Ocean’s 13

“You take down one Ocean, you face them all. What are the odds of getting even?”

They wanted money and one wanted to get his love back, so they went to heist a casino. Then they had no choice and they went on to heist in Amsterdam where another one’s love is. This time the love intersets are mising whereas everthing else is the same. Reuben after losing his land to Willy Banks leaving him almost bankrupt, inspite of knowing the kind of person he is , gets a heart attack(too bad he didn’t check with his palmist this time) and the Oceans want revenge.

This time Terry Benedict provides them finance for the heist and and Roman Nagel( the guy who got them the 3D egg in Oceans 12) joins the gang. The Film is hilarious, clever, and the characters were good(as usual).

The film looked good. Split screens, rusty picture( looks like Steven Soderbergh used that special HD Digital cam in this movie too), dialogues, no time wasted and fun it was.

Danny and Rusty: Suave

Terry Benedict: Not as cool he was shown in the trailer.

Linus: Gets to be a major player and watch out for the time he gets caught.

Basher: “It’s nice working with proper villans again”, heehee. What good is the Oceans gang without him.

Malloy twins: The funniest characters in this movie. This time you think they won’t fight and ……there they did it.

Saul: :) . Watch out for his accent.

The Amazing Yen: He sure is the grease man this time.

Livivngston Dell: nervous wreck.

Frank: “They might as well call it White Jack.” nuff said.

Reuben: The smile on his face when he comes back after his attack. Priceless.

Willy Bank: Cheat. Jackass. Even though Al Pacino not at his best, he sure was the only man fit to be against all the Oceans after Terry Benedict.

All in all a ***3/4.

V

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

Om puri’s Logic

Unlike any usual day,  I was reading the paper this morning and came across an article about some listed actors who left an impression after their movies  and there is this part explaining what Om puri did when he was in Russia. Here is the compiled article from the paper

Puri had just finished a day’s tour of Riga, a beautiful but freezing Baltic regions in the USSR and was feeling hungry. He and his translator checked out a few stores most food products were sold out (as Russia was also going through a food shortage then). Finally, they zeroed on to a small deli, where the only savouries available were some beef patties.

Puri, who has never eaten beef, but who was famished decided to put aside all religious protocol and polished off a few patties. After he devoured them, Torchinsky, his Russian translator smiled gleefuly and said, “Look, you said you have never eaten beef but you ate. Ha ha ha which means you’ve broken your religious rule.” For a moment Puri looked glum and suddenly he brightened up. “Not quite,” he said.

“How come?” Torchinsky asked surprised.

“It was the beef of a Russian cow, not an Indian cow.”

Have a joyful Easter

I wish all my friends and everyone passing by a Blessed Friday and a Joyful Easter!!

Be Yourself

“Be yourself, everybody else is taken.”

I wrote this quote on my board the other day, a reminder to myself actually. But who am I?(now don’t go to the spiderman thing)…..I am sitting here, typing this post, pondering upon this quote, that the guy who quoted this…did he know himself? Do you folks know yourself? Does everybody know and is it like knows that they know themselves? If you do, and you know that you know thyself, how is it like? What does it feel like? Is it an achievement or ..not? Does everybody do what others do? How did the ‘others’ do something original? Or is it that ‘others’ do or did someothers did?

Must be a tough thing….to know thyself.

Forgive me folks……..just that i wanted to post something and I just saw 7 episodes of ‘Heroes’…

When I wrote that quote on my board that other day “Be yourself, everybody else is taken”, somebody else wrote…kinda like completed

“Be yourself, everybody else is taken….and besides such specimens are rarely duplicated.”…okay now dont ask “SO?”….I’m just telling.

p.s I saw Thank you for Smoking before…..very good, smart, funny movie. You folks should watch it. So is ‘Heroes’….if you people like comics, it might be good

ROCKY BALBOA

                                                                 rocky-balboa-teaserboxart_160w.jpg

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!

Well that’s Rocky way of looking at life and is sure seen in sly’s eagerness making all his Rocky movies. This movie unlike the other rocky movies show us his life without Adrain, his wife. Oh! Rocky is doing well alright, he runs a restaurant yaps to all his customers about his previous fights and poses for photographs with their kids, but the fighter with a big heart is lonely. His son has left him because he doesn’t want to live under his father’s shadow, he wants to get respect as himself. Paulie still works at the meat shop. Then he he comes across lil’ marie( in one of the earlier movies rocky made her quit smoking) and cares about her(in a platonic way) and her son. He also buys a dog and names it punche
He feels even more empty cos he wants to fight ….He wants to be himself not just talk about his old fights. Therefore he gets his boxing license(only with a desire to fight small fights) and he gets a challenge from the ‘Champ’ for a exhibition fight for charity. That’s when his son tries to stop him from fighting cos if rock becomes a joke , it’ll affect his career and all. After a talk with his father he realises his mistake and joins Rocky along with Paulie(who gets a forced retirement) for the training.

To beat this guy, you need speed. You don’t have it. And you’ve got calcium deposits on most of your joints, so sparring is out.So what we’ll be calling on is blunt force trauma. Let’s start building some hurtin’ bombs

It was not a bad movie, really. It isn’t a cliche kind of Rocky movie. Decently shot and acted. Dialogues were not bad at all. It was hellva decent way to end the Rocky series.

The Prestige

                                                     prestige_p.jpg

“Are you watching closely?”

Well you better be while watching this film, cos u might end up clueless. I’ve seen The Illusionist also and since both films consists of the same medium, ‘magic’, one would compare The Illusionist with The Prestige. The Illusionist(*ing Edward Nortan, Jessica Beil, Paul Giamatti) is a simple story about a man who passioned magic as a kid, and returned to his homeland, as Magician Eisenheim, in search of his childhood love, Sophie, who happened to be the fiance of the stubborn, slightly corrupt, and who’d stop the magician from taking his fiance, the Crown Prince Leopold. The story turns as Sophie is killed and the invesitgations led by Chief Inspector Uhl finds out that the killer is , the Prince. Thus Eisenheim goes on to seek revenge and thus chaos is created in the Kingdom. The magic in the movie is good.(It seems some of the it was done by Edward Nortan himself.)

The Prestige is rather complicated. Now I’m haven’t seen Insomnia and Memento to tell that the prestige is complicated, but this is complicated compared to The Illusionist. The Prestige is…clever.

Every great magic trick consists of three acts. The first act is called ‘the pledge’. The magician shows you something ordinary, but of course, it probably isn’t. The second act is called ‘the turn’. The magician makes this ordinary something do something extraordinary. Now you’re looking for the secret, but you won’t find it. That’s why there’s a third act called ‘the prestige’. This is the part with the twists and turns. Where lives hang in the balance. And you see something shocking you’ve never seen before.”

The movie is all about the prestige, as u can get from the name of the movie, it’s better for anyone to see the movie. The story is all about the rivalry between two magicians, Batman and Wolverine(irony!!hmm wonder if there’s a comic book where they are together)…oh no it’s Rupet Angier who is very good when it comes to presentation or let’s say a good showman and Alfred Borden who is the brainier one, lacks the presentation skills. The rivalry starts ‘cos of the curiosity of Borden which results in the death of Angier’s wife. Angier takes revenge by shooting Borden’s fingers while Borden was performing the trick of catching the bullet, but that did not leave Angier satisfied. Angier enveyed Borden ‘cos he had a family and because of a very clever trick that Borden has performed, The Transported man. The trick was so amazing thatAngier believes that is not a trick, it’s true, but Angier’s mentor Cutter insists that it is just a trick but all Angier had in mind was “That man stole my life, I steal his trick.” Angier goes about to make The real Transported Man and the prestige of the movie follows. The movie, like magic is all about misdirection. Anyway the the starting words of the movie(as first in this post) gives us the warning. Good storyline, good cinematography and the screenplay was good and gave an equal weightage to both the actors. Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman gave a good preformance and it was pretty much surprising (and amusing) to see Andy Serkis(remember gollum) in this film.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Ever since I landed in this place I wanted to get out of this place….hell I’m even feeling ‘homesick’…..

homesick…

hmmm I remember when I used to go to the Infirmary in Montfort when I was a kid, the senoirs to bunk warm-up before the games used to go to the Infirmary and ask for tablets ….and when arokiam(he was the guy who was incharge of the infirmary when nurse was out-of-station)asks what was the reason, the seniors said,”Homesickness”….and arokiam would give them the cough surup……..it took me a lot of years to actually understand that the senoirs and arokiam had an understanding and they used to joke around.I used to think that ‘homesickness’ was a seroius illness…..used to think like that till my 5th std( i never told anyone)………. :-| :-| :-|

anyway (snap snap)….so i was saying….mumbai….homesickness….so I thought “Maybe I should go to Hyderbad, but then I realised that I have very little money….the next day my college friends were having a party in B’lore…..one of them invited me over to B’lore for the Diwali Holidays, then I said “I don’t have any money.” “Hey u could borrow”said my friend. I actually thought that was not a bad idea….I should borrow money and then go to B’lore. Then I thought (yea….I know….lot of thinking)”Y not borrow money and then go to Hyderbad”…and then to make my options even less, renju already got two tickets booked to Hyderbad….

in the bus travel they put this film…i dunno all I wanted to do was get out of the bus and puke

yea I reached Hyderabad….Hyderbad…unlike Mumbai….the places were pretty close by(atleast where punnen n swen lived) wheras since mumbai is a very large city one gotto take a local train to travel between places.Another thing was that I could be there in Hyderbad only for a day……anyway the bottomline :I had a very premium time in hyderabad(premium like they say in “everything is illumunated”)……..I’m so sleepy now guess this the most boring post I’ve written…….

and on my way back they put’Krissh’…my God,how bad the can the movies in Hindi get

hindi…I saw “don”…now lemme tell u Farhan Akthar tried…tried…. but in vain….he put in a lot of kung-fu(or karate) and lot of motorola phones…..and another twist in the script of the old bachan don movie.Beginning-boring…..after intermision-ok(i can’t a better review for this movie)

and Lucky # Slevin-well let’s say the guy who wrote the script really had to put something in the plotline……so this guy had a lot of Mountain dew and got in this eXtreme mood and put a lot dialogues which comes like bullets and….yea…. man’s greatest weapon when he has nothing and anger’s ugly cousin(the latter is from Anger Management)-sarcasm .Actually for once in a mood….anyone could watch this movie and enjoy it…..once.

like

Ben Kingsley is known as the ‘Rabbi’,Morgen Freeman-’The Boss’….and they are Gangsters….and they have this gangster war between them….Josh Harrinet- a passerby named Slevin Kellevra,a loser who is in the wrong place at the wrong time whom everybody thinks is Nick Fisher, and nick happened to owe the two gangsters money….well later something else happens(kahani mein twist).
Rabbi:My father used to tell me, when somebody calls you a horse,u punch him in the nose.If he calls you a horse again,u call him a jerk.If he calls you the third time….well perhaps it’s time to go shopping for a saddle.

well here is the end for now….I wanna go back and sleep …….ciao

and the heading….I didn’t know what to put as the heading….so I just typed the the first word which came to my mind

it was used in the movie-”Mary Poppins”(guess is that most of you all already know that) in a song . super- “above,” cali- “beauty,” fragilistic- “delicate,” expiali- “to atone,” and docious- “educable,” the sum meaning roughly “Atoning for extreme and delicate beauty while still being highly educable.”
